It’s official. We’re heading into Selby!
This December, we will be taking our famous ‘Social Club’ project into the wonderful market town of Selby!
Our Social Clubs provide weekly online sessions for 4 weeks, along with a jam-packed activity kit. This project is specifially aimed at adults with mixed learning disabilities or those with an additional need. This project is ideal for those who are sheilding as all the activities take place online or are facilitated through a kit bag. If you’re interested in joining this project, please get in touch today to reserve a spot – places are limited! You can contact us by visiting the contacts page on our website, or simply email [email protected].
Our Activity Kits
Inside the activity kit you will find four individual packs of sensory props, as well as two craft activities. The sensory props are designed to be used in our Zoom sessions, keeping the workshops engaging and lively! The craft activities come with a clear instructions – offering you a ‘how to’ guide to follow. All our materials are skin friendly and suitable for a multitude of needs.
How do we keep the kits safe?
Participant safety is our top priority. In order to keep the kits as secure as possible, we follow these guidelines:
- Materials are packed whilst wearing appropriate PPE
- Materials are sealed in wipe down packets
- Kit bags are quarantined for 24 hours after packing. We suggest that they are left for 72 hours before opening
- Materials are packed in a community building, currently closed to the general public
- Kits are collected from an outdoor site
Collecting your Kit
We will be setting up an outdoor collection point, where you will be able to meet the practitioners behind the project as well as pick up your goodie bag.
We will be asking support workers, PA’s and family members to arrange collection with us directly. We will be manning a collection point on Friday the 27th of November between 11:00am and 12:00pm – a Selby based collection point will be confirmed very soon. If you have any issues collecting your kit them please get in touch to discuss other options.
We are very excited to be offering weekly zoom sessions! We will be exploring sensory props, games, storytelling and music. The sessions will be fun and creative as well as sociable. If you are new to using Zoom or if participants feel anxious about joining an online session then please tell us – we are happy to offer a micro-session to walk through some of the technology and to put minds at ease. We also send a Zoom guidance out before starting a new session and our Zoom codes change weekly – in order to keep the sessions safe and secure. All our online sessions will be delivered by our Performing Arts Practitioner Jenny Walters.
Where and When?
Sessions take place on the public platform Zoom, which is free and easy to use. Please download Zoom onto your devise before entering a session – you can use a laptop, tablet, IPad or even a smart phone! When you have downloaded Zoom, simply enter the codes we email to you.
Days: Tuesdays, 1st December – 22nd December 2020
