TOOLBOX SOCIAL PROGRAMME - SENSORY DANCE

Get active in this structured dance class, held in the beautiful studio space at Energise gym in Acomb. Explore full body movement, a range of dance styles and sensory props. This sessions is accessible to all abilities levels. 

We offer participants a safe space to build skills and grow lasting friendships. All activities are suitable for a multitude of needs and are delivered by our qualified Dance Practitioner.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Sessions are held in the large dance studio in Energise gym, Acomb. This is a well ventilated space which is fully accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. The room is located on the first floor, however there is a lift between floors. You will find an accessible toilet immediately opposite the studio, as well as a community café on the lower level. There are many other accessible services in the venue including the popular hydrotherapy pool.

Hand gel and anti-bacterial wipes will be on hand around the building. The building has a large, free car park to the side and is also on major bus routes from York city centre and surrounding villages.

Free Drinks Service

At the end of each session you will be given a token to exchange for a free hot drink in the community café. Support workers will also be provided with a token to use alongside the individual they support. Please feel free to redeem the tokens at the end of the session.

Sensory Dance

  • Days: Mondays
  • Time: 1:15pm – 2pm
  • Cost: £4.50 per session (fees are paid at the start of each half term)

Description: Join Siân in this sensory dance and movement class in Acomb! Take part in gentle warm ups, prop interaction, simple choreography and freestyle! Don’t forget to collect your hot drink token at the end of each session to claim your free drink from the café. This offer extends to all PA’s and support workers.
